Chedworth Roman Villa (30 minutes’ drive) is one of the largest Roman Villas in Britain. There are beautiful mosaics, woodland trails and beautiful views down the valley.
Cirencester Amphitheatre (25 minutes’ drive). On the outskirts of Cirencester are the massive earthwork remains of one of the largest Roman amphitheatres in Britain. It was built in the early 2nd Century, when the Roman city of Corinium (now Cirencester) was second only to London in size and importance, with a population of over 10,000. The amphitheatre could hold about 8,000 spectators. After the Roman army left Britain, it was fortified against Saxon invaders.
Corinium Museum (20 minutes’ drive). The main collection houses significant finds from the Roman town of Corinium. However, there are thousands of objects on display, from Prehistoric tools, Roman mosaics, Anglo Saxon grave goods to Medieval sculpture.
